M&M's cake - Perfect cake for him

Hey guys!

So the other week my amazing boyfriend had his birthday so we threw up a birthday party. So for birthday he obviously needed a birthday cake. I decided to mixed everything he loves in to one cake: M&M's, KitKat and chocolate... A LOT of chocolate. This came out well as I expected it to be. It was delicious, chocolaty and cute. The cake recipe is first then below there is recipe for chocolate frosting and decoration.



Ingredients: (24 cm cake mold)

  • 7 eggs
  • 230 g of baking chocolate
  • 3 1/2 dl of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoons of salt
  • 300 g of butter
  • 3 dl of brown sugar
  • Breadcrumbs 
  • milk (for making the cake moist)
Start by heating the oven to 175°C.  Take the cake mold and oil it and spread the breadcrumbs all around. Take two bowls and separate the whites and yolks. Melt the chocolate in microwave with low temperature. 







Mix flour, vanilla extract, baking powder and salt. Mix soft butter and brown sugar with electronic mixer. Add the yolks one by one mixing all the time. Then add melted chocolate to the mix. Add all the dry ingredients in two parts and mix well.






Mix whites until they are hard. Then lightly mix them to the dough. Pour to the mold and put it to the oven for 45-55 minutes. You can check is the cake ready with wooden stick if it comes out from the cake without dough the cake is ready.






Ingredients for chocolate frosting: (Enough to fill and cover the cake)

  • 1 dl of butter
  • 1 3/4 dl of cocoa
  • 6 1/2 dl of powder sugar
  • 1 dl of milk
  • 1 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Take kettle and melt the butter with low heat. Add the cocoa in. Stir until the sauce starts to thicken. Pour the sauce to a bowl and let it cool up. 
Add milk, powder sugar and vanilla extract to the mix and mix until even.




It is really important that the cake is totally cooled down before cutting it or filling it. If the cake is warm while cut it will break to pieces. Also the frosting will melt inside if the cake is warm. After you have cut the cake spread some milk on cake sides so it will be moist. After fill and cover the cake. 




Decoration:
  • 6 KitKat (which ever flavor you like)
  • 1 bag of M&M's
After the cake has been covered cut the KitKat's in half (Check the picture) and place all around the cake so that they make "fence" for the candies. After pour the bag of candies on top of the cake. If you will not serve the cake straight away keep it in the fridge. The cake should be taken to the room temperature around 30 minutes before serving so that the frosting softens.
