Lasagne - Italian food at its best

Welcome back!

So I was thinking to start with an Italian classic and one of our absolute favorites... Lasagne.

I love to make everything from scratch. But I have to say that I am a bit too lazy to start to do the lasagne sheets from the beginning since there are so many good ones on the market. However, I always do everything else by myself.

So I know that many people think that it's extremely hard and takes a lot of time to make authentic lasagne. But actually, it's not that hard. And it takes only around 30 minutes plus the time in the oven (25 minutes).

So what do you need... Here is a list.

Ingredients : (6 portions)

  • Lasagne sheets (around 12 sheets)
  • 750 g of mix of ground beef and pork
  • 400 g of tomato sauce ( If you want you can use the one with garlic of herbs)
  • 1 big onion
  • 3 garlic gloves
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 2,5 dl of white wine
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 100g of butter
  • 100g of flour
  • Nutmeg
  • Parmigiano

So first you need to check if you need to boil your lasagne sheets before using them. This will be said on the package if needed. I normally use the ones that you do not need to boil.

Second, start to cut the onion into small cubes (about quarter of your thumb) and put it into the hot pan with minced garlic and a bit of olive oil. When the onion starts to be nicely golden add the ground meat. Let it cook for 5 minutes. Then add the white wine and stir until the wine has dried up. Add the tomato sauce and stir well. After, add salt and pepper according to your own taste. At this point heat the oven to 200°C.

For the white sauce take a kettle and add the milk and make it boil. Melt the butter and add flour to it (with a good stir). Next, add the butter-flour mix to the hot milk and stir well so that there will be no glimpses. The mix should get thicker quickly. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper according to your own taste. Let it boil for a couple of minutes.

Start to layer the lasagne. If you want to make your cleaning process easier you can oil the dish.
Start by putting a layer of lasagne sheets at the bottom. On top put first a layer of bolognese sauce and then a layer of white sauce. Keep on going until you have used all the sauces. On top, there should be a layer of white sauce. Grate the parmigiano on top of the lasagne. Note: If you want you can add parmigiano between every layer.

Put it into the oven for 25 minutes. After taken out let it chill for about 45 minutes before serving.

 Enjoy!
